How has been for you? I see Puk had to abandon his car on Tuesday night. I had to ride my moped back from Havant to Southsea Tuesday night. I had to use my feet as skis! Wednesday I had a snow day and just sat on my bum. Yesterday I finally got in to work half an hour late (11.30am) and then got to go home an hour early at 18:30! But still the snow has frozen into horrid hard piles all up and down the road. In a lowered car like mine that is hell! my poor front splitter!
I had a mental night Tuesday mate, left work at six, traffic froze at motorway, decided against backroads as most of scum was closed to snow anyhow, sod taking the b roads. Took me from 6.15-7.30 to get to junction 8, another hour to junction 9, then when i got to ten i stopped completely and my wheels didn't turn for three hours. I was tempted to drive down the on ramp at junction 10 but then realised nothing had moved on it all night and if i got stuck i'd be stuck pointing the wrong direction on a onramp looking very stupid, plus i wouldn't be able to get up north hill if i got off the motorway anyway!
I got out to have a piss in the bush and when returning to my car got chatting to a couple who had abandoned their car walking back to it with a bottle of water as their wipers didnt work and they couldn't see, chatted to them for a bit and then had a snowball fight with kids from the car behind me and built a snowman!
Eventually traffic began to crawl about midnight, i started up the off ramp and the twat in a cmax up front stopped at the lights, even though there was no traffic on the roundabout so we all dutifully stopped on this off ramp. I put the handbrake on and it started sliding backwards so footbrake as well. When trying to advance up the ramp my big low profile tyres just began to spin with little purchase, and with a good use of heal and tow with handbrake i was sliding backwards at the guy who was far too close behind me. Fortuntatly i managed to get purchase and pull myself up to the top. Was fairly scary tbh. Abandoned my car at about half twelve in the bottom of town, donned my boots that were in the car and started walking home, the snow was still falling and was a good 10 inches deep. Needless to say i didn't go in on wednesday and it took me three hours to recover my car with use of a 4x4, rope, carpet and shovel.
